Hop into Easter fun: Activities for toddlers

With Easter approaching, it's a great opportunity to spend quality time with your toddlers and introduce them to the joy of this spring holiday. Toddlers are at an age where they are beginning to comprehend the world around them. From decorating eggs to creating Easter-themed crafts, there are countless ways to engage your little ones' imaginations. Check out our Easter activity picks below for toddlers that are sure to put them in the holiday spirit:

Egg hunt

Ready, set, hunt! Easter egg hunts are a classic Easter activity for kids of all ages. You can make it extra special for your toddler by hiding eggs in easy-to-find places and giving them a basket to collect. You can even make it educational with color matching or a counting activity. If you have a backyard, you can have the egg hunt outside or hide them around the house for an indoor egg hunt. Make it even more exciting and hide a gold Easter egg with a dollar or a surprise inside. Own a Liki Trike? Hide some eggs around the neighborhood and stroll around with the whole family.

Egg decorating

Decorating eggs is another traditional activity that your toddlers will love. With a decorating kit or natural items like food coloring or vegetable-based dyes such as beetroot juice to give color to the eggs, your toddler can have fun and get creative. To make the process more interactive, let them select the colors and assist them in decorating the eggs with materials like stickers, markers, glitter, play dough, and more. For a fun surprise, you can fill eggs with a special treat.

Bunny crafts

Crafting bunny-themed projects is a great activity for toddlers, especially to teach them about different animals and their characteristics. One example is creating bunny ears using construction paper or a bunny face with paper plates and cotton balls. For other options, you could try handprint art by painting your child's hand white and adding bunny features. And with the warm weather, another fun option is creating Tin Can Bunny Planters for all your spring plants. Be sure to always supervise your little ones during crafting activities and choose age-appropriate materials to ensure their safety.

Easter storytime

Take some time to read your toddler an Easter story. There are many great books for toddlers that you can find at your local library or bookstore, plus they make great Easter basket stuffers. Reading together is a great way to bond with your child and introduce them to the meaning behind the holiday. Wind down after a day of finding eggs and eating sweet treats by flipping through some of our favorites including ‘Llama Llama Easter Egg’ by Anna Dewdney and ‘How to Catch the Easter Bunny' by Adam Wallace.

Easter baking and snacks

Get your toddler involved in some Easter baking and snacks! From cookies, cupcakes, or even a bunny-shaped cake, you can let your little one help you mix and decorate the treats and enjoy a sweet snack together afterward. For healthy snack options, you can create carrot hummus cups with baby carrots that act as bunny ears. If you have a bunny cookie cutter at home, you can also assemble fruit kabobs with your favorite fruits, such as grapes, strawberries, bananas, and a melon bunny cut out on top.

Overall, Easter is a fun and exciting time for toddlers. With these cute Easter activities, you can help your child get into the Easter spirit and create special memories together. We hope you’ve enjoyed our list of fun Easter celebration ideas you can do with your kids.
