Doona - Sensalert vs. Traditional child safety measures

SensAlert vs. Traditional child safety measures

No parent ever imagines that they could be faced with the tragic incident of leaving their child behind in a vehicle. Even the most loving, responsible, and attentive parents can find themselves in this unimaginable situation. Although traditional measures like mirrors or leaving personal items in the back seat, such as purses, have been relied upon for years, it is clear that a more foolproof solution is needed to prevent such accidents. This is where SensAlert steps in, an innovative child alert solution that detects the presence of a child on board and warns the caregiver or emergency contacts if the child is left unattended.

While there are other options available on the market, many of them come with limitations. Some devices require a 12V socket connection or professional installation, adding complexity and inconvenience for users. Others lack the option to make emergency calls. In this blog, we’ll explore why SensAlert goes above and beyond other products and traditional child safety measures, offering parents safety for their children and security for their minds.

How it works:

SensAlert’s features go beyond what most anti-abandonment devices offer in the market. While many devices lack an alert system, GPS location and phone call capabilities, SensAlert ensures the utmost safety through its three-alert levels and capacitive sensors. Capacitive sensors function similarly to a smartphone's touchscreen. These sensors can detect the presence of a human body by measuring its ability to conduct electricity, even when covered by clothing. This unique feature sets SensAlert apart from basic pressure sensors that can be triggered by any object placed on them, catering specifically to the safety needs of concerned parents and caregivers.

Here’s how the three-alert level system ensures the highest safety for children in vehicles:

1st alert: After 3 minutes of the child being left in the car unattended, caregivers receive a notification on their smartphones with the message "Warning: child is still on board!"

2nd alert: If the first alert is not deactivated, caregivers receive a call on their smartphones as a reminder to take action.

3rd alert: If the second alert is not deactivated, SensAlert automatically contacts the emergency contacts listed in the app via call and SMS, providing them with the GPS location.

Intelligent cloud-based system and additional features

Unlike many other products that rely on smartphone-based communication through apps, SensAlert takes a different approach. While SensAlert seamlessly integrates with Android and iOS smartphones, it also alerts with calls and SMS notifications that are separate from the app through an intelligent cloud-based system. Even with the caregiver's smartphone experiencing connectivity issues, SensAlert provides a hassle-free experience and can still function effectively, ensuring that crucial notifications reach the caregiver and emergency contacts. The device emits an intermittent sound to remind caregivers to turn it back on if it's accidentally turned off, ensuring continuous security.

The Doona app also features an automatic low battery alert, emailing caregivers when the device's battery is running low. The batteries have an average life of about 12 months (depending on usage) and are replaceable.

Sharing SensAlert

SensAlert sets itself apart from other devices in its category by offering expanded sharing options and emergency contacts. SensAlert can be shared with up to three people, allowing parents or other caregivers to use the same device when traveling with the child. Each user can also choose up to 5 emergency contacts in the app. In case the parent or guardian is unavailable, the emergency contacts serve as the last level of alert and have the option to receive the GPS location.

Suitable for most car seats

SensAlert is designed to fit most car seats for children of all age groups. For boosters, you can also use it as a cushion.

Durability and certifications

The outer layer is made from neoprene, which is resistant to minor accidents and can be hand washed. The device has undergone rigorous testing to meet mandatory certifications such as CPSA, FHSA, and CPSIA, ensuring its reliability and adherence to safety standards.

SensAlert is a game-changer in child safety technology, surpassing traditional safety measures. By investing in SensAlert, parents can enhance their child's safety during car rides and significantly reduce the risk of accidental child left-behind incidents.
