Jungle Island
Neighborhood: Watson Island

Home to extraordinary wildlife from around the world, Jungle Island merges Miami’s beautiful landscape with an impressive animal sanctuary. There’s tons to explore on the island, from the animal park, to Jungle Splash water park, to the petting zoo. Make sure to check out Tree Walk Village, a network of treehouses for children to play in. There’s also an Everglades habitat you won’t want to miss, as well as many educational shows happening throughout the day to learn about the animals!
Zoo Miami
Neighborhood: South Miami

Price: Free admission for children ages 0-2. General admission for ages 3-12 starts at $18.95.
The largest zoo in Florida, Zoo Miami is home to more than 3,000 animals and over 500 different species. Thanks to Miami’s tropical climate, it’s one of the only zoos in the US able to have open-space, outdoor exhibits! You can even rent what they call a ‘Safari Cycle’ for the whole family to ride around and visit the animals together. Miami Zoo is a great idea all year long, but if you go during Christmas, prepare to watch the chimpanzees open presents!
South Pointe Park

South Pointe Park offers the best of everything. With a grassy park and playground, beautiful beach, restaurants, and a boardwalk, you can easily spend the whole afternoon there enjoying nature. Have a picnic in the grass and watch the cruise ships go by, or walk down to the beach for some fun in the sun. Fairchild Tropical Gardens

Fairchild’s beautiful property offers activities for the whole family, from the Tropical Rainforest experience (the only one of its kind in the US!), to a spectacular butterfly exhibit with hundreds of butterflies and more than forty species of colorful orchids and plants. There’s also a Children’s Garden and an Expedition Discovery Program to teach kids how to become certified plant explorers. Make sure to check out any events or workshops they host throughout the month including painting, gardening, yoga classes, bird watching, scavenger hunts, dog dates, and more!
The Berry Farms

Venture down south to the agricultural heartlands of Miami for an unforgettable country experience. The Berry Farms is a family-owned business known for its strawberry picking, hayrides, sunflower fields, giant bounce floor, corn maze, and many other activities. Open from around September to May, it’s a wonderful activity for the whole family. They also host numerous festivals and events throughout the year including art fairs, farmers markets, BBQs, live concerts, and more!

Creating Me

With offerings in visual arts, theater, music, movement, and sensory play, Creating Me provides an outlet for every child. Enroll in educational classes like “Little Genius,” for toddlers ages 1-3, that include Montessori activities, art, music, outdoor play, and nature exploration. They also offer classes for older children (ages 2-5) called the “Learning Lab,” which is meant to support and prepare your little ones before they start school. Make sure to check out their package deals if you plan to do more than one class!
Frost Museum of Science
Neighborhood: Downtown Miami

Architecturally pleasing with its three-story aquarium, The Frost Museum is intriguing before you even enter the building. With exhibitions like The Dig, Journey to Space, Feathers to the Stars, and The Power of Science, there’s something here for every little explorer. Make sure to check out the meLab, an exhibit focusing on the body where you can explore the amazing ways your body and mind work together, or venture to The Sun Spot exhibit to learn about how we harness the sun’s energy with solar panels. End with a visit to the planetarium for captivating visual experiences in outer space!
Miami Children’s Museum

Miami Children’s Museum supports learning and imagination in children through culture, the arts, and the local community. There’s a Castle of Dreams, Multi-Sensory Room, Cruise Ship and Port of Miami, Music Makers Studio, a Glass Lab, a Supermarket, Roar and Explore with Dinosaurs, and so much more! The exhibits are meant to spark your child’s natural curiosity through engagement and play. A great activity for a rainy afternoon, Miami Children’s Museum is sure to provide a wonderful experience for your little one.
